Artist Statement

A love of cinema, visual arts, books, music, and nature is my North Star. I have always been fascinated by human and non-human faces. All of these inspire and provide fuel for my imagination.

My work explores the features, forms, and personalities of real and imagined subjects. The themes I explore emerge from nostalgia, motion pictures, and personal obsessions, informed by subjects that catch my eye: distinct lines of a face, organic shapes, striking lighting, resonant color palettes, and layered textures.

My art represents a blend of influences. It hopes to capture a timeless, dark, and fantastic beauty. The subjects are a mix of existing people, imagined characters, and otherworldly creatures. I harness film images from the past filtered through the lens of my creative sensibility.

The work is created from various materials in my practice while utilizing representational techniques: drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and video.
